Current Practice Schedule:
SAT: 7 pm-9 pm
Freeform practice- study and practice of all weapons and systems outside of Fiore
MON: 7pm-pm
Beginners Course classes- run in 8 week sessions
WED: 7 pm-9 pm
Fiore practice and instruction- planned lessons and sparring based on Fiore’s techniques
LOCATION: Mary V Quirk School- Warren, RI
Please contact us before dropping into a practice session. We sometimes have minor alterations in our schedules, and may not be practicing every Wednesday/ Saturday. Experienced fencers are welcome to attend any of our Wednesday or Saturday classes as guests, but we ask any individual with no HEMA experience to take part in our beginner class before anything else. For guests, we charge a drop-in fee of $15 (can be paid via Venmo, cash, or check).
BEGINNER CLASSES:
BCHF holds Beginner Classes 2-3 times per year. The Beginner Class is an 8 week course that covers the basics of longsword fencing, as instructed by Fiore’s martial system. The entire course costs $150. No experience required. All equipment provided.

BCHF Open House
Black Cat is moving to a new gym! For our first year and a half, we rented part-time space at the Mary V Quirk school in Warren. In April 2025, we are moving to our new private, fulltime location! Join us on May 10th for our Open House and sparring day- spectators welcome!

Long Tail is an annual HEMA Tournament and celebration of BCHF’s founding! We host a multi- event tournament to celebrate our anniversary and everyone who has helped make this club and community a success. Join us each October for a full day of fencing. Spectators always welcome!

Benedict’s Big Day: A Ringen Tourney is Black Cat Historical Fencing’s annual historical wrestling tournament! Join us for a morning of ringen competition- spectators are welcome! Jackets (either ringen jackets or gis) and belts (any kind of fabric belt with no metal attachments) are required. People of all genders, sizes, and backgrounds are encouraged to join!
